Beginning on the Atlantic coast with the extraordinary wind city of Essaouira, the route sweeps south through the surf town of Taghazout to Agadir before climbing to Marrakech and crossing the High Atlas to Ouarzazate and the cinematic landscapes of the Draa Valley. The journey reaches its most dramatic point deep in the Sahara at Erg Chebbi, where a camel ride at sunset leads to a night under the stars in a nomadic desert camp. From there the route heads north through the vast Moroccan interior to the ancient holy city of Fez, the blue alleyways of Chefchaouen, the storied streets of Tangier and the royal monuments of Rabat, before concluding in Casablanca. Day 1: Arrival & the Road to Essaouira
Arrive at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport and begin your Moroccan adventure immediately with a photographic tour of the city — sweeping past the magnificent Hassan II Mosque exterior, the Corniche and the Royal Palace — before following the spectacular Atlantic coastal route south towards Essaouira. The drive itself is a delight, with vast lagoons and crashing Atlantic waves visible at every turn. Arrive in Essaouira in the early afternoon with the rest of the day entirely at your disposal — perfect for a first wander through the medina or a long stroll along the windswept beach. Dinner and accommodation at hotel. A gentle and scenically extraordinary start to thirteen days of discovery.

Day 2
Day 2: The Wind City of the Atlantic
After breakfast, immerse yourself in Essaouira — one of Morocco's most beguiling and distinctive cities, formerly known as Mogador and with roots stretching back to the 7th century. This ancient Atlantic port city has been shaped by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Portuguese and Berbers, each leaving their mark on a place that has somehow remained intimate, unhurried and deeply authentic throughout centuries of change. Stroll the fortified ramparts with their cannons pointing out to sea, explore the bustling fishing port, wander through the souks and medina and watch the craftsmen — particularly the thuya woodworkers — at their ancient trades. The rest of the day is free for your own personal exploration and discovery. Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

Day 3: Coastal Drive to Agadir
After breakfast, leave Essaouira and head south along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Morocco — a dramatic drive through arid straw-coloured landscapes with the Atlantic Ocean glittering to the right and the foothills of the Anti-Atlas rising to the left. Stop in Taghazout for lunch — a legendary surf town whose point breaks attract wave riders from across the world and whose easy, bohemian atmosphere is entirely its own. Continue south to Agadir — Morocco's largest seaside resort, the White City by the Sea — arriving in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to explore the centre or take a long stroll along the famous beach promenade. Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 4: South to the Pink City
After breakfast, depart Agadir and head north-east towards Marrakech — a journey that takes you away from the Atlantic coast and into the warmer, drier landscapes that announce the approach of the great southern city. The drive passes through the Souss plain and into the foothills of the High Atlas, the colours shifting from dusty green to deep ochre as Marrakech draws closer. A day largely spent in transit, but the landscape is magnificent and the change in atmosphere palpable. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon with time to check in, freshen up and take a first evening stroll through the city before settling in over dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 5: The Red City Revealed
A full day dedicated to Marrakech with a local guide — the legendary Red Imperial City, Pearl of the South and Morocco's second oldest imperial city, founded by the Almoravids in the late 11th century. The morning takes in the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the lavish Bahia Palace, the haunting Saadian Tombs — sealed for centuries before their rediscovery in 1917 — and the serene Ménara Gardens. Lunch is at your leisure. The afternoon leads into the extraordinary famous Djemaa El Fna square and a walk through the labyrinthine souks, where every trade and craft imaginable is on display. The spectacle of the square at dusk is genuinely unforgettable. Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 6: Over the Atlas to Ouarzazate
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass — one of the great mountain road crossings in Africa, with views that shift at every bend from snow-dusted peaks to plunging gorges. Descend into the Draa Valley and the cinematic landscapes of the Moroccan south, stopping at the magnificent Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou — the UNESCO-listed fortified village that served as the backdrop for Gladiator, Game of Thrones and countless other productions. Continue to Ouarzazate — the gateway to the Sahara — for dinner and an overnight stay. The contrast between the Pink City left behind and the earthen kasbahs ahead is one of Morocco's most dramatic.

Day 7: Into the Sahara
After breakfast, depart Ouarzazate eastwards, stopping at the Kasbah of Taourirt for photographs before continuing through Skoura and the rose-scented valley of Kelaa M'Gouna. The route enters the spectacular Dades Valley and the extraordinary Todra Gorge, where sheer cliff walls tower 300 metres on either side. Continue through the Jorf oasis and its lush palmeraie towards Erfoud and Erg Chebbi, where a transfer to a 4x4 vehicle awaits to cross the great dunes. As the sun begins to lower, mount a camel for the unforgettable ride to a nomadic desert camp, arriving just in time for a blazing Saharan sunset. Dinner and overnight at camp under the stars. Day 8: Desert to the Holy City
Wake before dawn to watch the Sahara sunrise transform the dunes from deep gold to brilliant amber — one of the most extraordinary spectacles Morocco has to offer. After breakfast at camp, begin the long journey north to Fez, crossing the vast and varied Moroccan interior through landscapes that feel entirely remote and untouched. Stop for lunch in the mountain town of Midelt, set high in the Middle Atlas between the High and Saharan Atlas ranges, before continuing through Ifrane and the cedar forests of the Atlas towards Fez. Arrive in the evening, check in to your hotel and settle in ahead of a full day of exploration tomorrow.

An entire day dedicated to Fez — Morocco's oldest imperial city and the most complete surviving medieval Islamic city anywhere on earth. Begin in the ancient medina, founded in the 8th century, where the Andalusian neighbourhood, the El Bali Palace, the celebrated Nejjarine fountain and the extraordinary Al-Quaraouiyine Mosque — the oldest university in the world — reveal a city of staggering historic depth. After a free lunch, continue through the souks and into the legendary leather tanning district, where the Chouara Tannery — viewed from surrounding terraces — provides one of the most vivid and memorable visual spectacles in North Africa. After breakfast, depart Fez heading west, passing through Meknes — the great Ismaili imperial capital known as the Moroccan Versailles for its monumental architecture and ambition. Arrive at Volubilis, the extraordinary Roman ruins classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where remarkable floor mosaics and ancient columns rise dramatically from the open Moroccan plain. After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and head north via the elegant Andalusian city of Tétouan towards Tangier — the legendary city that straddles two continents and two seas, long a magnet for writers, artists and adventurers from across the world. Enjoy a photographic tour of the city including the atmospheric Kasbah, then take the rest of the day at leisure to explore Tangier's famous market, the Petit Socco and the medina at your own pace. The city's bohemian history, extraordinary position above the Strait of Gibraltar and the faint outline of Spain on the horizon all contribute to a uniquely charged atmosphere.

After breakfast, depart Tangier and head south to Rabat for a two-hour guided tour of Morocco's refined and underrated administrative capital. Visit the ancient city fortifications, the iconic Hassan Tower, the deeply moving Mohamed V Mausoleum, the Royal Palace and the enchanting Kasbah des Oudayas, its blue-and-white alleyways perched above the Atlantic.
