Itinerary

Day
1

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Your Private Journey Begins

Land in Nairobi and step straight into your private safari, met on arrival by your own driver-guide for the transfer to your hotel. With the afternoon free, settle in at your own pace or ask about optional excursions nearby — a visit to an elephant orphanage, a guided cultural walking tour, or an afternoon exploring the city's edges where wildlife and skyline meet. There's no itinerary to follow yet, only rest and anticipation. Tomorrow your private vehicle heads west into the Great Rift Valley, the first of four distinct wilderness areas that define this journey from the capital to the coast. Take the evening to unwind before the adventure begins in earnest.

Day 2: Nairobi to the Masai Mara, Into the Great Rift Valley

Depart Nairobi with your private guide, descending through Kenya's scenic highlands into the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, pass a chapel built by Italian prisoners of war and the Longonot Earth Satellite Station, quiet markers of the region's layered history. Continue through Narok and across golden wheat and barley fields toward the world-renowned Masai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch at your camp, then head straight into your first private afternoon game drive across plains framed by a scenic ridge home to a well-known local lion pride. As the light fades, return to camp having already glimpsed why the Mara draws travelers from around the world.

Day 3: Masai Mara, A Full Day Among the Big Five

A full day in the Mara unfolds entirely on your terms, guided by two private game drives bookending a relaxed midday break. Set out at dawn as the plains wake with wildlife — giraffe, zebra, impala, topi, and buffalo grazing across open grassland, with predators often close behind. Return to camp mid-morning to rest before lunch, then head back out in the afternoon as the light turns golden and animals move again toward water. If timing allows, consider pre-booking a hot-air balloon safari for a sunrise view over the savannah unlike any other. Return to camp at sunset, the day's sightings already forming stories worth telling.

Day

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha, Highlands to Shoreline

Leave the Mara behind and travel north with your private guide across Kenya's fertile highland farmland, where wheat and barley stretch to the horizon. Pass through Narok, the regional hub of Maasailand, before descending onto the Rift Valley floor and continuing via Mai Mahiu toward Lake Naivasha. Arrive around midday at this freshwater lake, fringed with acacia and rich in birdlife and hippos. After a relaxed lunch and siesta, set out on a private afternoon boat ride across calm water — an easy, scenic way to spot wildlife from a completely different vantage point. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Day

Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli, Beneath Kilimanjaro

Depart Lake Naivasha with your private guide and travel southeast through open Kenyan countryside toward Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for a late lunch. This is Africa's most iconic backdrop: Mount Kilimanjaro rising over swamps and savannah alive with elephant herds. In the afternoon, set out on your first private game drive, tracking wildlife against the mountain's silhouette as the sun begins to lower. Return to your lodge as the light softens over Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak — a sight that has drawn travelers to this corner of Kenya for generations, and one best appreciated slowly, at your own pace.

Day
6

Day 6: Amboseli to Tsavo West, Lava Fields and Springs

After an early breakfast, journey southeast with your private guide into Tsavo West National Park, Kenya's largest, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. En route, cross the dramatic Shetani Lava Flow, a striking reminder of volcanic activity from the nearby Chyulu Hills, before a winding road through thorn scrub and acacia delivers you into the park itself. In the afternoon, set out on a private game drive that includes a stop at Mzima Springs, where underwater viewing chambers offer a rare glimpse of hippos and fish beneath the surface. Return to your lodge as the sun sets over Tsavo's rugged, red-earth wilderness.

Day
7

Day 7: Tsavo West to Taita Hills, Stilted Views Over the Waterhole

Begin with an early private game drive en route to the park gate, then travel south with your guide to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to your next stop, where stilted rooms overlook a busy waterhole framed by the surrounding hills. After a short siesta, head out on an afternoon game drive before returning to relax for the evening. Spend the remaining hours watching wildlife from an underground hide or the lodge's panoramic viewing decks, where elephant and buffalo sightings unfold just steps away — a fitting, immersive close to your final full day of safari.

Day
8

Day 8: Taita Hills to Mombasa, Journey's End at the Coast

After an early breakfast, depart Taita Hills with your private guide and journey southeast toward the Indian Ocean, marking the transition from wilderness to coastline. Arrive at your beach hotel on Mombasa's North or South Coast in time for a late lunch, where the safari portion of your private journey comes to a close. From here, settle into the rhythm of the coast — palm-fringed beaches, warm ocean water, and a slower pace after eight days spent tracking wildlife across four distinct landscapes. However you choose to spend your remaining time, this private journey from Nairobi to the sea offers a fitting final chapter.
