Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park
After an early breakfast, journey southeast to Tsavo West, Kenya's largest national park when combined with Tsavo East. En route, cross the dramatic Shetani Lava Flow, a vast black field of volcanic rock left by an eruption in the nearby Chyulu Hills, before winding through thorn scrub and acacia woodland into the park. Arrive at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge for lunch, where rooms built of volcanic stone overlook a busy waterhole. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive to the famous Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear waters bubble up from beneath the lava, and an underwater viewing chamber offers fascinating glimpses of hippos and fish. Return to the lodge as the sun sets over the wilderness.
